Interview a Blogger, Louise Rose | Blog Series

Hello Again,

Today we're back with my Interview a Blogger series and today it's all about the lovely Louise Rose! She's from York and blogs about everything from Heath and Food to Fashion to Reviews! I personally love her post about the Lush Spring and Easter event she attended, the photos are great! So let's get to know more about Louise!

1. Tell us something about yourself and your blog?
I'm Louise Rose, a 25 year old blogger from York/Hull but currently living in Sheffield. I decided to name my blog after myself because I wanted to blog about my life and experiences. It's my corner of the Internet.

2. How did you get into blogging? Did someone else inspire you?

I worked in social media for three years, which involved blogging. I also studied Public Relations at University. I enjoyed it so much that I wanted to turn it into a personal hobby, thus starting my own blog.

3. What does blogging mean to you and why?

Blogging genuinely means a lot to me. I live in Sheffield but I'm not from here, so I don't have many friends. Blogging has been a great way to meet new people who have similar interests.

4. I personally have almost stopped blogging so, What keeps you motivated?

I'm quite a motivated person, I don't really know why or what causes it. At the end of this month I'm declaring myself as a blogger because I'll have started earning money from my blogging by then. I think I'm also motivated because I set myself quite a lot of goals!
5. Name some (one, two or three) of your favourite bloggers and tell us why they’re your favourite?
She Might Be Loved (Georgina). Georgina is an award-winning blogger, who is also based in Sheffield. She blogs about plus sized fashion and beauty. She's really lovely and works extremely hard.
FrannyMac (Fran). Fran is a London blogger and wonderful friend of mine who has such unique content. Her personality shines through her blog.
Country Pearls (Rebecca). Becky is another friend of mine who is also Sheffield based. She's recently gone through a whole rebrand with her blog. She amazes me with how enthusiastic she is with her blogging. Becky also runs her own cleaning business which is an incredible achievement.

6. What do you do when you’re not blogging?

I work for the NHS in admin full time. I'm really into my weightloss and eating healthier at the moment, so I love going for walks.  I live near some beautiful gardens so I walk there quite often. I adore reality TV shows, so I'm usually watching one of those when I'm having some me time.

7. What are you most proud of when it comes to your blog?

I started my blog at the end of 2014, so my blog is now just over a year old. In 2015 I did loads with my blog, attended some really exciting events and got some amazing opportunities. I'm really proud of what I achieved in 2015.

8. Everyone has a favourite and a least favourite post, what are yours?

Favourite - http://louiseroserailton.com/2015/12/15/blogmas-a-place-of-luxury-ox-pasture-hall-hotel-scarborough/ This was my favourite opportunity from 2015. It was so relaxing staying at the hotel and we were treated so nicely. I'm proud of this blog post.
Least favourite - http://louiseroserailton.com/2015/08/01/recipe-dairy-free-rocky-road/ My recipe post for Dairy Free Rocky Road. I'd love to re-take photos for this to make it look better. I really want to work on my blog photos this year anyway, I've just purchased some new photography equipment.

9. As I’m mainly a beauty blogger I feel like I have to ask at least one beauty question so: If you could only use one kind of beauty product what would it be and why?

R&B Hair Moisturiser from Lush is incredible. Now that I've used it, I don't think I could live without it. It tames my hair and makes it so soft. Damn my naturally curly hair.

10. What would you say to someone who aspires to become a blogger?

It's not about getting free stuff, like some seem to assume. Blogging can actually be really hard work. You have to dedicate a lot of time and put a lot of work into it, if you want to grow your blog. If you're hard working and creative, blogging is definitely for you.

Thank you to Louise for taking part!

Come back next saturday to see who our next blogger is.

Melt Aberdeen | Review

Hello Everyone!!

Today's post is going to be a little peak into the world of Melt Aberdeen! What is Melt Aberdeen I hear you ask?! Well (thanks for asking) Melt is a new sandwich shop just opened up last week but it's not your generic sandwich shop! Their speciality is: Grilled Cheese!! I feel that toasties (what I call grilled cheese) were a quintessential part of my childhood so I knew when I got invited along to the press launch that I had to go! (Disclaimer: I am not the biggest fan of cheese - I know, heaven forbid - but I do go back and forth to liking it). Get ready for a long blog post! Grab a snack, possibly even a toastie.

I want to start with the decor as that's such a huge part of the Melt experience! On the window outside there's there massive logo of, you guessed it, a toastie! There's also some typography on the side windows, this was done by Laura Bremner of Juniper Press and I think she's
done excellent work!

The interior is very retro and it works! I love this wall of photos, the little girls remind me of the plates my Grandma has on her wall.

This little chalkboard quote was done by Amy Singer of Cloudy Blue.

As well as toasties they also have soup for sale and soon will have some vegan choices! All of the toasties are made with sourdough which is something I've never tried before but it tasted grate! (get it, grate, cheese, no .. ok).

Here we have the beautiful Mechelle Clark (she can do amazing things with cheese - a cheese god if you will) owner of Melt standing very proud by her toasties - and so she should be! Mechelle is super welcoming and made us feel very much at home and I'm so happy that her idea has taken off and is doing so well! (So well that on their first day open they had to close because they ran out of bread).

If you like Macaroni, cheese and bread then the Mac + Melt is your guy! I remember phoning my other half when I left Melt, telling him about this and I could basically hear him drooling down the phone (what a beautiful image to put in your head).

I love that they have incorporated haggis in a toastie as I have never heard of anyone doing that before! So original!

Now for the bad boy who stole the show for me! The Choc + Cheese Melt!! Mascarpone and nutella toastie!! YES!! I can't wait to go back and buy about 5 of these, the mascarpone cheese mixed with the nutella tastes like marshmallows and chocolate and it's Heavenly! (literally just checked my clock to see if I had time to go and grab one but sadly I don't).

I think that Melt is a breath of fresh air for Aberdeen, we don't have anything like it and I think it's going to be exceptionally successful! Thank you to the Team at Melt and for Mechelle for inviting me. You will be seeing me again, soon!!

Melt Aberdeen, 58 Holborn Street, Aberdeen

I've blogged on and off for years but in 2015 decided to really focus more time and effort into writing.

3. What does blogging mean to you and why?

I love it, I enjoy sharing my opinion, and I especially like connecting with my readers and other bloggers. I've had a few emails from readers that have said a particular post has really helped them and that means the world to me.

4. I personally have almost stopped blogging so, What keeps you motivated?

I've always been a writer, I love to write, I love words, and I really enjoy posting and interacting.

5. Name some (one, two or three) of your favourite bloggers and tell us why they’re your favourite?

- Dorkface - Jemma is so creative, so innovative, inspiring and absolutely lovely. I love everything about her style.

- Sea The Stars - I've followed Sarah's blog for a while and it's like my happy place, I love her blog.

I spend way too much time on Twitter, watching Netflix, tormenting my boyfriend and FaceTiming with my 3 year old nephew.

I was interviewed by the BBC for a post I wrote about being disabled and wearing make up, that was pretty awesome.

8. Everyone has a favourite and a least favourite post, what are yours?

I love a haul, I'm so nosey, I love to know what people have been buying. I'm not really interested in fashion, I know, shoot me now.

9. As I’m mainly a beauty blogger I feel like I have to ask at least one beauty question so: If you could only use one kind of beauty product what would it be and why?

Oh my days, you did not just ask me that! Concealer, preferably Urban Decay Naked concealer, I have horrendous eye bags, those babies need covering.

10. What would you say to someone who aspires to become a blogger?

Don't aspire, just do. And good luck.

Thank you so much to Sarah for taking part! It's been an absolute pleasure.

February Favourites!

Hello Again,

Does anyone else think that January flew by and that we missed February?! How is it March already? It's officially spring and we had a snow storm today, oh how the world is a marvellous place.

Anyway, it's that time of the month where I share with you what I have been loving for the past month. Side note: I have also loved a few pieces that have been added to my wardrobe but they are going to feature soon so keep your peepers peeped for that. Enough babbling and let's get to the favourites!

The first thing I want to speak about is this Digital Argan Wand from Diva (I'm actually borrowing this from my mum for a while and I don't want to give it back) I normally either have my hair scraped back in a high pony or a messy bun or poker straight and I was just fancying a change so when I got this i fell in love with the look it gave me (you can see how I styled my hair in the photo above my about me section). I love how big it makes my hair (big hair don't care) and how long the curls stay in my hair - even through to the next day!

Lush Dirty Solid Perfume - Love the smell of this, it's a nice mix of the sea, mint and a hint of man!

MAC Extra Dimension Eyeshadow in Sweet Heat - This is such a nice metallic golden brown eyeshadow. It's great for putting all of the lid on lazy makeup days or it's good for building up your crease.

Loreal Color Riche Blake's Delicate Rose - This is such a vibrant girly pink, great for trying to get me out of my comfort zone!

No7 Eye Serum (cannot find the link anywhere - it may have been a Christmas Exclusive).

Maybelline Super Stay Makeup setting Spray - I have done a whole post on this I love it so much! (Product of the Week Post)

Soap and Glory Thick and Fast HD Mascara - Again I have done a post about this too! It's great for volume and length! (Top Mascara's Post)

The last thing I want to speak about is this lovely Eyelet Shoulder bag from Next, again this is from my Mum (thanks Mum). I have been using this every day since I got it and I just love it! It's a big change from the massive grey across body bag that I had been using for the past few years. I feel like recently I've got to know my personal style a lot better and this is a very happy addition to my bag collection (which I think consists of 4 bags - I know - I need more).

Thank you very much for reading this post. I know I tend to baffle on and end up writing massively long posts so I did try and shorten this (yes I know, this is a short post for me). What have been your favourite things over the last month, I'd love to know (I'm nosey like that).

'Till next time ...
